woot. 14 days have passed. finally home.
god. haven't missed home as much as i can remember.
i only called home on the 2nd day. and never did after that. for 2 reasons.
1. flat battery.
2. i didn't want to miss home anymore than i already did. plus it kinda distracts me from all the fucking shit tt i have to put up with.
now i know why they say army is the transition from boys to men. the rifle presentation on the 6th day (wednesday) alone is dman cool. first time i'm putting my hands on a bloody SAR-21. my god it's fucking cool. scope and all the targetting mechanisms. damn coooooool. can't wait to put it to use in the range.
physicals are ok la. physically demanding. but not overly so. but it is the adapting period. so they are going light on the training. like 20+1 pushups per punishment. and 8+1 pullups before every meal la. but sadly urs truly can't fucking do tt many pullups. so i end up doing additional pushups to compensate. what's with the plus one? cuz u have to fucking shout "1 for commando" in addition to the 20 u have to do.
then there's the route marches. not bad la. already covered the 4km and 6km. we did the 4km in 38-40 minutes if i'm not wrong. just kinda messy when u're at the back. cuz when there's a gap of like half a metre for everyone. the fucking back ppl have to close up like 20 metres la. cheebye. haha.
the number 4s look good la. feels good wearing them. feel smart for once. no wonder my officer says he respects the army uniform. there's just something about it.
bunkmates are great guys. it's nice to have ppl like sidney, sikuan, bryan, alan, dan and roy in the platoon. life in the army becomes bearable. having relatively amiable and fair sergeants are good too. this alone makes up for their lack of vocabulary. :P
but i've been a fucking wuss in the army la. really felt vulnerable in there. esp after 2 incidents. i felt damn defeated during the first pullup test when i tweaked the shoulder abit and failed fo even do a single pullup. kena tekan like fuck. damn sad la. but when the shoulder became better can do 4. but doing it every meal caused me to drop to zero. hahah.
second incident was on the 2nd last day before booking out. was fucking cold la. and we were having a water parade. sergeant told us to drink a whole bottle. so like yeah... i did. but after tt just felt fucking horrible. whole body tensed up. then i began to shake uncontrollable from the head down. kinda lost control of my limbs for a second or two. then became numb la. then was brought to the medical centre to stay overnight. its not good sleeping in the sick bay i tell u. even if u don't go in there sick, u will come out sick. even ivan says so. haha. so i booked out with sore throat, a headache and a cough. like thanks man. haha.
after all tt shit's been said and done. i realli do hope i get to stay in commandos and get my red beret la. with all the airborne badges. it might look tough. but it doesn't look impossible.
PS: army is mentally regressive by nature. whoever goes in will come out with a limited vocabulary in english and slower mental reactions. BUT many come out with a better command of hokkien. and occasionally tamil.
